Funding
Thank you so much for your patience over the past 22 months as The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation and the Schnitzer family examined their changing philanthropic philosophies and established new granting procedures moving forward.
The CARE Foundation’s principal purpose will continue to be the support of Arts & Culture, Youth, Educational, Medical, Social Service, and Community activities that enhance the quality of life in Oregon. As in the past, the family is committed to Portland and nonprofit organizations serving the metropolitan area, which will be given first funding priority.
Small Grants (<$10,000)
We are excited to announce the expansion of our youth philanthropy program, CommuniCare! The majority of our small grants in the Oregon/Portland Metropolitan area will be distributed through this program. For more information, please visit the CommuniCare website.
Other Grants
By Invitation Only. Grant proposals for projects, matching grants, and capital campaigns will be accepted and reviewed on a quarterly basis.
Event Sponsorship Requests
The CARE Foundation Directors will continue to support nonprofit organizations by sponsoring fundraising galas, auctions and other events. Please submit sponsorship packets electronically to barb@schnitzercare.org or celeste@schnitzercare.org. Please allow 4 – 6 weeks for a funding decision.
The Foundation does not provide funds for individuals, non-tax-exempt organizations, other private foundations, or political groups.
